Brianna, now 22 years old, was involved in a tragic automobile accident in October 0f 2012 which left her in a coma for three months.  Her long road to recovery from a traumatic brain injury began in the ICU at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.  She has been surrounded by the most skilled doctors and therapists throughout her recovery process. This past July of 2014, she began equine therapy at Stable Hands.  Horse therapy “exploded” her progress and propelled her to new levels of recovery.  The remarkable difference...

Without the proper footing material (top soil, sand) there is risk of injury to our program horses and to the vitality of the Program that helps so many. Please consider a $10 gift to help reach our goal of $4000 to pay for this high priority item. Or mail your donation by completing our capital campaign donation pledge form and sending both to: Stable Hands, Inc. Capital Campaign 3501 Swan Ave. Wausau, WI...

A big “Thank You” to all of our believers.  We assure you- this is JUST the beginning.  Wait til you see what is coming.  We give thanks to all who helped us get this far and stand with us for a great future!

Hoofbeats of the Heart Fundraiser a Success

In spite of the rain our event was very well attended and people really enjoyed it.  The addition of the bouncy houses was a big hit.  Officer Landretti and dog “Foster” did a fantastic demo for the croud showing how the dog is trained to act on command. Also presenting, to name a few, were Therapy Dogs International and of course little “Rosie Toess” the mini horse and her trainer Sue. We were honored to have Rosie stay overnight at Stable Hands’ facility- our first “celebrity”   🙂 The food was...

Welcome New Therapy Horse Dreamer!

Thanks so much to our instructor Angela Fredrickson for donating Dreamer to the Stable Hands program.  She’s just the right size and is a real people lover.  Dreamer has a very sweet personality and is calm and responsive. Therapy horses have to be comfortable with several people being around them.  There are sidewalkers, Games kids that assist with program activities, a horse leader and other horse teams in the arena.   They need to stand very still when mounted and to be tolerant of the game activities that our riders do.  I was...
